• DecoArt Maxx Gloss Acrylic Paint in Jungle Leaf, Poblano Pepper and Garnet Stone
• Small Pigment Brush
• Burnt Out Bulbs From Christmas Lights
• Yarn or String
• Large Clothespins
• Mini Clothespins

Painting The Light Bulbs

I scored this entire shoebox of Christmas lights at the austerity store a while back. Keep your eyes peeled and you might find some, too! This whole box was $1.00. Or maybe you lot have some extra bulbs lying around already? This is a great mode to repurpose some of the burnt out bulbs after you supplant them.

I gave these light bulbs new life with a coat of this super glossy acrylic paint. Seriously, this stuff is astonishing. I tried out both brushing the paint on with a paintbrush and dipping the bulbs directly into the jar of paint. While the dipping seemed like the best thought at first, it resulted in a very thick glaze of paint that took a long time to dry out and I ended upwardly with more drips as the excess paint ran off the bulbs. Then I used a small paintbrush to coat the bulbs in the paint. This process went very fast.

By the way, aren't these pigment colors and so pretty?! I dearest how vibrant and festive they are.

Using a regular wooden clothespin as a makeshift stand to hold the bulbs upright while drying worked actually well! It took about three or 4 hours for mine to dry to the bear upon. The paint volition be fully cured in xiv days, but you lot can work with them and finish this Christmas card display once they feel dry. Exist sure to dry the bulbs on top of some newspaper or plastic to grab any drips!

Hanging Your Christmas Menu Display

The next step is to hang the light bulbs on some string. I used embroidery floss and cutting it near 8 inches longer than the width of our basement door (where I wanted to hang information technology). You could use yarn or any string yous have handy.

I tightly wrapped the cord around the base of the bulb a couple times and then tied a knot.
